St Patrick’s Festival

St Patrick’s Festival

If you’ve got kids, and you’re living in Dublin and you haven’t made your way to Merrion Square, you’re missing out. On a whim, we took both kids in yesterday. We had been last year but found it overcrowded, but this year they have taken advantage of the park as well as the streets of Merrion Square, and it really changes the atmosphere of the event.

We wandered through the park and found bouncy castles. All free much to the delight of us and the kids.

Then it was on through the park in search of the next surprise.

Which turned out to be the Lycamobile Puzzle Playground, packed full of wooden toys and games. There was something for each of us in that section.

The park was also home to a Talking Heads stage, a Literary Tent, and and Urban Farm. We didn’t get to spend time at any of those however because as soon as we came around the corner the kids spotted the large wooden playground complete with its own buried giant.

There was plenty more to do there, with Science and Maths workshops and shows, food stalls and a funfair.

It’s still on tomorrow for St Patrick’s Day (I checked!), so if the parade is not for you and you’re looking for a family event instead, check it out.
