World Breastfeeding Week
This week is World Breastfeeding Week. It runs from August 1st to August 7th every year, and more than 120 countries participate. You can read all about it on WorldBreastfeedingWeek.org. This year’s theme for the week is Talk to Me! Breastfeeding – a 3D experience. According to the organisers’ website, the theme was chosen because much of the discussion around breastfeeding tends to centre on just two dimensions – time (from pre-pregnancy to weaning) and place (the home, community, health care system, etc). But this week, they want to focus on the third dimension of breastfeeding – communication.
Communication is vital when it comes to spreading breastfeeding knowledge and experience.
In recognition of this week’s theme, I’d like to direct you to my story of my breastfeeding experiences, and the knowledge I gained along the way.
