Norman the Slug with the Silly Shell

Norman the Slug with the Silly Shell

We can’t get enough of Sue Hendra’s books in this house at the moment. Our new bedtime routine involves Barry the Fish with Fingers and the Hairy Scary Monster, and during the day, Little Man’s book of choice from the bookcase in the sitting room is Norman the Slug with the Silly Shell.

Norman is a slug who longs for more from life – specifically he longs for the glamorous life of a snail with their fabulous shells.

He searches far and wide for a shell-substitute, unless at last he finds the perfect solution. And then he’s all set to join the snails in their games.

Norman’s new life is everything he could have ever dreamed of…until a bird takes a fancy to his delicious looking shell! Uh oh!

This is a great adventure storybook. As with all of Sue Hendra’s book, the illustrations are bold, colourful, and absolutely delightful to a toddler’s eye. The story is exciting – Little Man loves to point out the doughnut shell before Norman finds it, and he squeals when the bird appears to snatch Norman’s shell! It makes for a fun read!

  1. They’ve done this on CBeebies bedtime stories too, I shrieked when it came on…

    • Oh I would love to have seen that!…I mean Little Man would love to have seen that. Ahem.
