An early birthday bash
We had a fantastic time this weekend, visiting Charlie’s parents. Little Man’s 2nd birthday isn’t for another couple of weeks, but Charlie’s parents won’t see him on the day, so they threw him an early birthday celebration while we were visiting.
The day couldn’t have been more perfect as far as Little Man was concerned. His grandparents, aunts and uncle, and his cousins were there, so of course he was the centre of attention. And there were presents galore – more than enough for a whole housefull of children!
Little Man’s eyes lit up when his Nana showed him his cake – Thomas the Tank Engine! I was a bit worried he wouldn’t realise that Thomas was edible – but his immediate response was “yum!” so clearly my worry was misplaced.
The fact that Little Man recognised how delicious Thomas the Cake was probably the reason why I never considered that he might get upset if I cut into Thomas’ face! All was well though once Little Man had a chance to kiss Thomas better.
The weather cleared up in the afternoon, which was just as well, because by that time Little Man had eaten four of his Nana’s yummy buns, and was full of energy (sugar!) and ready to run, run, run!
So that’s exactly what he did. For a while, all the new toys were forgotten in favour of chasing his birthday balloons around the back garden. Such giggles and fun!
Thanks everyone for a great party!
Awwwwww! That’s very cute about cutting poor Thomas : ) Happy birthday to Little Man!
