Twittering Irish Parents

Twittering Irish Parents

I created my first list on Twitter today. Don’t know why I never created one before.

Twitter is great, but once the number of people you are following goes beyond a certain point, it becomes difficult to find tweets from the key people you are interested in. Their messages get lost in the constant chit-chat – or twittering I guess.

The majority of the people I follow on Twitter are fellow parenting bloggers, from Ireland, the US, the UK, and Canada. And I follow a lot of media outlet accounts, news streams, and retail sites as well. And while it is always interesting to see what the world is talking about, sometimes, I just want to log in and see what’s happening locally and read what’s happening in the lives of other parents in Ireland.

And as it turns out, there’s a quick and easy way to do just that.

Step 1: Create a new list. Mine’s called Irish Parenting Bloggers.

Step 2: To add someone to your new list, browse to their profile on Twitter, and select Add to List from the Contact drop-down (the button with the silhouette of a person on it)

Step 3: Then select the checkbox for the list you wish to add them to.

And that’s it. You’ve added someone to your list.

I added every Irish Parenting Blogger I could think of to my list (in no particular order!):

So that’s my list. I’ve no doubt there are plenty of great Irish Parenting Blogs and Bloggers missing from it – but those are my finds so far. If you know of any others who you feel should be included, just let me know!

Oh and don’t forget, if you’d like to follow me on Twitter, you can find me @Mamadotie, or follow my list of Irish Parenting Bloggers, if you’d like to read what they’re up to too.

  1. Hi thank you for the mention have a smile here on my face 🙂 would tell the men in the house but they are all gone to bed 🙂

    • Aw! Delighted to make you smile! 🙂

  2. I reeeeeeeally need to do this on twitter too! Have been putting it off for ages. Twitter is fantastic but not as effective when you’re ‘listening’ to 500 people’s random musings at the same time… What a great line-up of Irish parenting blogs, really looking forward to checking out the ones I haven’t come across yet…and I thought Ireland was a small place ; )

    • Me too! Can’t believe I’ve only found some of those as recently as yesterday! Makes me think there must be more great Irish parenting blogs that I am missing out on.

  3. Great list 🙂 just what Ii was looking for, I added all of them. Thanks!

  4. Thanks Lisa, I didn’t know you could make those lists on Twitter, great tip.

  5. Thanks, I didn’t know you could make those lists on Twitter, great tip.

  7. Dear Mama,

I came across your details on the internet; I hope you don’t mind us contacting you. I wanted to speak to you in regards to a new documentary series we are producing to see whether you can help us.

I work for a television production company called Twofour, makers of programmes including the BAFTA nominated documentary series ‘Educating Yorkshire’. We’re currently producing a new documentary series for Sky1 called ‘The Sun Set’ which will follow families on holiday to a beautiful villa in Spain this summer. The programme will have moments of joy, laughter and an overall heart-warming feel that celebrates family life and the things we can all relate to.

We’re looking for Irish families with lots of character to take part in the programme. Flights, accommodation, food, day trips and some spending money are included and the holiday will take place between end July and end of August for 4 days.

I wondered if you could possibly post something on your Facebook page or send out to your members? Anything you could do would be most helpful.

An application form can be obtained by emailing: tvfamilyholiday@twofour.co.uk

    Many thanks,

    Simon
