2013: What a year!
It’s New Year’s Eve and I’m in full-on nostalgia mode, reminiscing on the year that was. There aren’t many years where you can look back and say “Wow that was a truly great year” but 2013 was one for me.
My brother got married in February, on Valentine’s Day no less. And it was a beautiful day, and a great week with family. I met my baby nephew for the first time that week, and we rounded out the week with his christening.
Six weeks later, our own new arrival made her way into the world. While the hospital experience left a lot to be desired, her birth itself was amazing and empowering. Before she was even one day old, I was home in my own bed cuddled up to her and introducing her to her big brother.
The weeks flew by and in no time at all it was summer. And what a summer it was. Every day I felt like pinching myself, unable to believe my good fortune at being off on maternity leave and enjoying such an amazing summer with my kids and family.
2013 has been a year for counting blessings and enjoying the small things in life for me – baby cuddles, preschooler antics, and general family fun.
I haven’t blogged as much as I would have liked, but my baby will only be a baby for a short time more, and there’ll be plenty of time for writing when my evenings are my own again, so I have no regrets there. Just a lot of mental post-its full of things I must write about when I get the chance!
I hope 2013 was as good for you as it was for me, and here’s hoping for a happy 2014 for all of us!
Sounds like 2013 was a good year for you alright, as it seems it was for many. Enjoy the baby cuddles the time passes quickly. Hope 2014 is as wonderful for you too!
And the same to you Naomi!
A lovely, positive post! I must admit I was feeling serious guilt over Christmas about the neglecting blog, but you’re absolutely right. These days are fleeting! Happy New Year, and thank you so much for everything. A x
Usually when I start feeling guilty about not blogging that’s when I most need a break from it April. Happy New Year!
