The best laid plans
Sometimes it doesn’t matter how well you think you’ve planned something – there’s always one or two little things you didn’t allow for. Like Little Man getting sick for Christmas. The poor little guy had a sick tummy all day yesterday, and then a high fever last night, and several times today. So we spent the night administering Baby Neurofen and Calpol, and the day trying to get fluids into him. For the hour or so after the Calpol had kicked in, and before it started to wear off, he was in good form today. But the rest of the time, he was just crying softly, or thrown down beside one of us on the couch.
Earlier in the week, hubbie had a cold and aches and pains all over. So we think that maybe Little Man has the same thing. He just seems as though he is achy. It’s awful seeing him so unwell and not really being able to do anything for him. All he wanted for most of the day was to watch In the Night Garden on YouTube on the iPad. And how could you say no, when he’s so sick and it’s Christmas?!
I think that nothing was meant to go to plan today because when we opened up the bag the turkey was on to get ready to cook it, the smell hit us. I guess our new fridge hadn’t cooled down enough yet to keep it fresh when we put it in. So although our ham was fine (delicious in fact), we were afraid to even cook the turkey.
But dinner was still delicious. And while Little Man was well today, we made sure to have lots of fun. Santa brought him an Aquadoodle mat, which he loved. And a ball pool, which was a huge hit! Good ole Santa. He always knows the best toys for little boys.
Happy Christmas everyone! Hope you had a good one!
