Pregnancy: Week 38

Finally – maternity leave! I started the week determined to make the most of whatever time off I had. The fact that I went into labour on Little Man at 38 weeks and 3 days was playing on my mind. In fact I think I expected the same thing to happen again this time.

So the day I turned 38 weeks pregnant, I rushed about the place, doing the grocery shopping, attending a maternity appointment in the hospital, and collecting the keys for the holiday home that we had booked nearby for my parents and our family to stay in.

As soon as my parents arrived, both Charlie and I felt a huge sense of relief. Whenever this little one decides to make an appearance now, at least we have no worries about what will happen with Little Man. It’s great knowing that my parents are just 15 minutes away. Plus as an added bonus, within a few days my mother and her handheld steam cleaner had our house cleaner than it has been in a long long time!

The first few days of this week passed in a blur, all of us expecting something to happen any minute. On Sunday, the day I was 38+3, I was so uncomfortable all day. I felt like I had PMS, and my face looked a bit bloated. We all thought it likely that baby would be making an appearance at any time. But that day came and went and this little one stayed firmly put.

In fact, each day passed, and…nothing. Maybe next week? 🙂
