Nursery Rhymes with Storytime
We’ve got a fantastic new universal app for the iPhone and iPad. It’s called Nursery Rhymes with Storytime, and it’s been released by ustwo. It’s available from iTunes for just EUR2.39. This app is essentially a storybook of nursery rhymes. But it’s much more than that. The artwork is gorgeous. The navigation is easy enough for a toddler to use. And each of the storybook pages is interactive. You can throw Jack down the hill and throw Jill right down after him, you can knock Humpty Dumpty off his wall, or you can cut off the tails of the three blind mice. God, when I put it like that, it sounds very violent! But it’s a lot of fun!
This app has a little something extra going for it as well. It has a feature called Storytime. Using any iPad and iPhone combination, you can use the app remotely with your little ones. So say if Little Man and I are away for a day or two visiting grandparents, then Charlie can open up a copy of the app on his iPhone, and I can open it up for Little Man on the iPad or on my iPhone, and Charlie can read a bedtime story to Little Man! Setting this up requires a Wifi connection and two Game Center accounts, but it’s very easy to do, and it works really well. We don’t use this feature much, because thankfully we are not apart that often, but I think it must be great for anyone who has to be away from their child overnight, and doesn’t want to miss out on their usual bedtime story routine.
