Let sleeping toddlers lie
I may have jumped the gun a few weeks ago when I said that we were saying goodbye to naps in this house. Certainly this week has made a mockery of that proclamation.
Little Man napped for 30 or 40 minutes every day at crèche. I wasn’t entirely happy about it because he hadn’t napped at all for us over the weekend before so I wasn’t convinced he needed it.
On Friday, Charlie was determined that they’d make it through the day nap-free. All was going well until they made a camp using the cushions from the couch, and Little Man crawled into it and promptly fell asleep.
Then yesterday we headed in to the Tall Ships Festival and he fell asleep in the car as we were pulling in to the car park. I thought he’d wake up as we walked around but he slept through the transfer into the buggy and then slept soundly for almost 90 minutes while we strolled around. The noise from the huge crowd didn’t bother him at all.
I half expected we’d be up late last night trying to convince Little Man to go to sleep. My fears were most definitely misplaced because he fell asleep on the way home from the Festival and refused to stir when we got home. For the WHOLE night. 4.30pm yesterday through to 5.15am today. Without a doubt the longest he has ever slept solidly in his whole life.
And he woke up in fantastic form this morning fully refreshed after his marathon sleep. And Charlie and I were feeling pretty refreshed too because we had a feeling there’d be an early start this morning so we had an early night last night.
And today? Well today Little Man napped from 1pm until 4pm, and he still went to bed at 8.30pm tonight. So I have no clue what to expect now nap-wise. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what the week brings. I won’t be surprised if he’s an inch taller at the end of it though. This has all the trademarks of a growth spurt as far as I’m concerned. 🙂
P.S. One of my blog posts has been nominated for Best Blog Post for Blog Awards Ireland 2012. Check it out and if you like it, please vote for it.
That’s some champion napping there Lisa! I love the way just when we think we have them sussed, they throw us for a loop 🙂 Has he grown that inch do you reckon?

Not sure. I must measure him this weekend. 🙂
