Creating Wordle Art
Charlie sent me a link to a great site today: Wordle
If you haven’t used it before, I suggest you check it out. You enter a group of words, or a URL for a website, and Wordle auto-generates a word picture made up of the most commonly used words in the text or on the site. Of course, I generated an image for Mama.ie straight away to see what it would look like. It’s great, isn’t it? Clearly Little Man is at the centre of my posts, but it’s funny to see the other words that make it on there as well. I like it!
The word family should be bigger 😛
If you want to see the difference in words used in advertising for boys and girls, using Wordle, have a look at http://www.achilleseffect.com/2011/03/word-cloud-how-toy-ad-vocabulary-reinforces-gender-stereotypes/
Such a coincidence that you posted that Anthony. You’ll laugh when you read my post later tonight.
Just did mine Lisa, thanks for posting…it says a LOT doesn’t it?! I was nearly afraid to look : )
Oh I’d love to see it Áine – what showed up on it?
I think that it only generates the words from the most recent posts. I might try it again next month to see if it looks different!
