An artist’s eye

An artist’s eye

Little Man was painting yesterday. Some serious works of art were produced – bold splashes of colour, broad brush strokes, a dash of glitter here, a blob of paint there.

I’m always fascinated to watch Little Man painting. I have to bite down my natural inclination to announce the painting is done or to suggest what he should do next. And when left to his own devices, he’s perfectly capable of deciding when each work of art is complete.

When he finished his first painting, he announced “All done.”

I asked him “What is it?” “Is Daddy!” he proclaimed proudly.

Then he started a second painting. Red and black paint and copious amounts of glitter were the order of the day for this one. I was fascinated to watch that where for his first painting he was happy to draw one amorphous shape in the middle of the page, this time around he seemed determined to paint every section of the page.

“Look – is Mammy!” he told me proudly when he was done. Not quite how I’d pictured myself. Though I am quite partial to glitter. πŸ™‚

    • Well if that doesn’t say “mother” to you, I don’t know what does! πŸ˜‰ (PS – were they glittery too?!)

  4. Maybe his creative side is remembering what your insides look like Lisa.

    • Β And what does his portrait of Charlie say? πŸ™‚
