You can’t argue with that
A few days ago, Charlie and I took Little Man to the supermarket to pick up a few essentials – milk, bread, and the like. We had even promised Little Man some ice cream as a treat if he was good.
A few minutes into our shopping expedition, it was clear it was going to be one of those evenings. The supermarket was busy and yet all Little Man wanted to do was run away from us.
“Don’t run away Little Man!” Charlie warned him. Off he ran.
“If you run away one more time, there’ll be no ice cream and we’ll go straight home. That’s your final warning,” Charlie said.
Little Man stopped and looked at Charlie. Ice cream is a delicious treat and threats against ice cream have to be taken seriously. One second, two seconds…Little Man turned around and stepped deliberately away from us.
“Little Man!,” Charlie shouted after him, “What did I say to you about running away?”
Little Man stopped and looked at Charlie once more. “No Daddy – walking!!” he said, puzzled.
He had us there.
