Summer camp for everyone!

When I was a kid, I remember attending summer camp each year and LOVING it! Getting to hang out with my friends, play games, and do activities I wouldn’t normally get to do.

I never thought that as an adult I’d find a whole new appreciation for them. But this week, I sent the almost four year old off to his first summer camp in one of the local Montessori’s.

I had been worrying how I would manage this week, because his baby sister was due her four month vaccines, and I didn’t fancy having him witness that. And also, I’m due a trip into my office to let me coworkers know that, despite the glorious summer, I haven’t forgotten them!

Then last week a friend suggested sending him along to a summer camp that her little one was also attending and so that’s what I did. Absolute genius if I do say so myself. He is having a ball. I don’t think he realised how much he was missing the company of other kids his age until he was surrounded by them again.

And meanwhile, when his little sister went for her nap after I dropped him off each day, I got to drink an uninterrupted cup of tea. Bliss. Summer camp for mama too!

  1. Lovely, Lisa, hope you’ll get a few more trips to Mama Summer Camp! I can’t believe your Little Woman is 4 months.

    • Time’s flying isn’t it? I can’t believe she’s four months either!

  2. Sounds like a win/win all round 🙂

  3. Love your blog! An irish mama myself, I’ve just started writing about my adventures 🙂

    • Well done on starting a blog. Hope you enjoy it. Once you’ve been blogging for a couple of months, give me a shout and I’ll let you know how to join the Irish parenting bloggers group.
