Pregnancy: Week 11

Pregnancy: Week 11

I wrote this post five weeks ago, when my belly was starting to expand and my regular clothes were getting very uncomfortable! Now that I’ve made the official announcement, I’m finally publishing and sharing it.

11 weeks pregnant this week. I’m finding it hard to believe. If it wasn’t for the fact that I now have the bedtime of a schoolchild (approximately 30 minutes after Little Man goes to sleep, my head is hitting the pillow), I think I’d keep forgetting I am pregnant.

It’s so so different to last time around with Little Man. Then I was obsessed with the fact that I was pregnant. I love to learn new things and pregnancy had opened up a whole new world to me. There was so much to research and to learn about. I knew nothing about the changes that were happening to my body week after week. I didn’t know what to expect from labour. I didn’t know what to look for in a buggy!!

This time around. Well, I think I must have given away my pregnancy books because I’m not sure where they are. Not that it makes a difference because I wouldn’t have opened them anyway. If something comes up that I’m not sure about (like the round ligament pains last week), a quick Internet search turns up the answer. And otherwise, I just don’t think about it that much.

I decided that I’d better tell my boss this week though, because even if it’s not quite sinking in with me, my body is certainly showing the signs. And I desperately wanted to start wearing my maternity jeans to work!

I was nervous before the conversation, because it always feels a bit strange to have to tell someone “By the way, I’ll be leaving you one team member down for at least half of next year!” But of course I needn’t have worried, and got nothing but a sincere congratulations in response to my news. And the relief of it finally being out in the open, and being able to wear those elasticated waistbands was just wonderful!
