Ho Ho Ho! Merry Christmas!
’twas the night before Christmas…
Get to bed little ones! Santa’s coming!
Our Christmas Eve started out a little less joyful than I had expected. Seems we had built Christmas up so much for Little Man that the poor little guy just couldn’t cope with any more anticipation and excitement. When he woke this morning and we explained that he still had to wait one more day for Santa’s visit there were tears.
And then a few hours later when I whispered to him “Don’t tell Daddy but we’ve got a present for him.” there were floods of tears.
We had to completely dial things back for him today and spent the day doing normal things and ignoring the impending visit from the red-suited man!
We went to our local Christmas Eve family mass, which is on at 5pm – fantastic for anyone with small children- and only when we got back and had eaten dinner, did we mention Santa Claus again.
Little Man helped to fill a glass with milk, and he proudly placed a cookie that he had helped make on a plate for Santa. We found a yummy carrot for Rudolph and then put a bowl of glittery oats in the garden for the other reindeer to enjoy.
And then after a bedtime story about Peppa’s Christmas, Little Man snuggled up in bed. To my amazement, he was asleep ten minutes later. I think he was just worn out from all the excitement of the past few days.
So now we’re all off to bed. Here’s hoping Santa pays a visit during the night!
Happy Christmas everyone! Hope Santa visits all of you tonight!
