Five weeks old

Five weeks old

My little baby isn’t looking so little to me anymore. I can feel her getting heavier in my arms. Her little arms and legs are filling out and her cheeks are taking on a definite chubby look.

We dropped the last of her newborn clothes to the charity shop and she is now officially in 0-3 month clothes.

She’s been more alert when she’s awake this week and we’ve noticed her starting to look at things. Little Man has noticed this change too and he’s taking full advantage of it. He loves to take his favourite toys and hold them up in front of her and explain what they are and how they work. It’s very cute to watch!

The wakeful days followed by sleepy days pattern seems to be continuing. I’m still just following her lead and letting her find her own routine. It’s working really well. One night this week she slept for just over a five hour stretch. And so did I! It was lovely!

Whenever she falls into a deep sleep after 8pm (and that can happen at 8.30 or she may cluster feed until after midnight – it really varies), I take the opportunity to go to bed and get some sleep. As a result, I’ve been managing to feel fairly well rested despite the night feeds.

Breastfeeding is finally getting easy. At some stage this week the pain disappeared and yesterday I was finally able to stop using the Jack Newman All Purpose Nipple Ointment. I’m so relieved and delighted.

So here we are – five weeks in and hitting our stride!

  1. All good news, hurray! Little Woman looks so alert…watch out Little Man!!!

    • I can tell already they are going to be great friends. She’s already showing signs that he’s her favourite!

  2. Just beautiful Lisa, so great to hear all is going well xx

  3. Brilliant! They’ll be great friends – just watch and see who she smiles for first, or easiest. My elder could always get the baby to smile – she was entranced by him. And she was such a great audience that he loved to entertain her.

    • I can’t wait to see the pair of them interact in the coming weeks. He’s a bit of a showman already so I suspect he’ll be thrilled to have a captive audience.

  4. Aw Lisa! She’s sooo gorgeous! She just looks PERFECT! Agh I have to stop reading your blog … It’s only been 7 months and I want another one!!!! She’s absolutely lovely, so glad the feeding has finally worked itself out x

    • I take no responsibility for any broodiness Dee!

  5. Congrats! Isn’t it amazing how excited we can get about being able to sleep for 5 hours?
