BLW: Toad in the Hole

BLW: Toad in the Hole

Time for another recipe from the Baby-led Weaning Cookbook today. This time I made Toad-in-the-hole. I’ve never made it before. In fact I’m not sure I’ve ever had it before. I wasn’t really sure what it was. Turns out it is sausages baked in eggy batter.

The batter was easy to make – simply beat some plain flour with two eggs and milk. Then let it stand in the fridge for a while. Meanwhile heat the oven to 220c and warm some oil in the pan you intend to use. Once that’s ready arrange the sausages in the pan and pour the batter around it. Then pop it back in the oven for 25 minutes.

I made some boiled baby potatoes and carrots to go with it.

And the verdict… Yummy. If I was making it again I think I’d use a bigger pan so that the batter would be thinner. The batter at the centre was very eggy and gloopy. But the rest of it was lovely.

And of course the real test was Little Man. He seemed to really like it. He ate a couple of sausage halves and couldn’t get enough of he batter. And he ate loads of carrots. Wouldnt touch the potatoes though but I’m not sure why.

So another one to add to the list of favourite family recipes. Baby Led Weaning Cookbook
